Father Joshua Nelson

A child of southern Ohio, Fr. Joshua was raised in his own words as a denominational mutt, attending worship with family and friends in the Evangelical traditions of the Church of Christ and Church of the Nazarene, as well as the Pentecostal traditions of the Church of God. The grandson and great-grandson of pastors, he felt a draw into ministry at a very young age. He earned a Bachelor of Music Education from Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee where he began attending the local Episcopal Church as a member of the choir. After four years of teaching High School music, Joshua entered discernment for the priesthood. After graduating with a DMin from Sewanee: The University of the South in 2017, Fr. Joshua served St. David’s in Elkhart, Indiana where he helped develop a Unity Garden Program, a city-wide Homeless Coalition, as well as serving on Diocesan Council and chairing the Diocesan Commission for Creation Care. In February 2021, he moved to Gallipolis to begin a two-point ministry with St. Peter’s – Gallipolis and Grace – Pomeroy. Fr. Joshua lives on the river with his cat, Hildegard, and loves spending time with his nephew, Lucas.
